 Bird Nest Teapot

This organic nature inspired form reminds you of a
tree trunk with a little bird nest. It is a functional tea
pot though you can use it as a beautiful piece of art in
your home decoration. This teapot is hand build from
the slab. After it was build, I impressed one of my tree
trunk molds . After the form was bisqued, I applied
red iron oxide wash to the body and then rubbed it off
leaving it only in the crevices. It was sprayed with a very
light layer of clear glaze.  It  is food safe. The handle
is made out of natural wood. The teapot was high
fired in reduction in a gas kiln. Dimensions: 3" in
diameter x 15" tall with a lid.  SOLD!
ThirstyTeapot

This organic nature inspired form reminds you of cracked thirsty
soil. It is a functional teapot.
THIRSTY TEAPOT is thrown on the wheel and altered.  
After the form was thrown on the wheel, I applied black slip to it
and expanded the form from inside out while spinning the wheel.
Special sodium silicate method was used to achieve deep
crackles. After the bowl was bisqued, I sprayed the bowl with
thin clear glaze so that it penetrated in cracks and then cleaned
the bowl from outside that there was very little glaze left on the
black form. It is  food safe. The teapot was high fired in electric
kiln. It can be micro waved and dish washed. Dimensions: 5" in
diameter x 10" tall with a handle.  SOLD!

I have been exploring how human shapes particularly faces can be
incorporated into a functional clay form in an expressive way:
humorous, caricature, dramatic and so on. It is fascinating how
you can bring a functional form to life by adding some human
elements. This teapot is thrown on the wheel  and heavily altered,
multi-glazing, high fire in reduction in a gas kiln. Dimensions:
7.5" tall x 5.5" in diameter.

custom order . It  was hand-built from slabs
and coils. This teapot  was high fired in

 C11 Matreshka Teapot
This beautiful teapot is reminiscent of Russian culture and old traditions of folk art. It was inspired by my
nostalgic memories. It was a challenging technical project of connecting separate altered sections that were
thrown on the wheel into one tall vessel. The silhouettes of Russian orthodox churches were carved by hand
on the teapot. Gold Shino glaze was applied to the bisqued teapot and then high fired in oxidation in an
electric kiln. This teapot is safe in the dishwasher, microwave and oven. Dimensions: 13" tall x 5" in diameter.
