wheel and altered, multi-layered glazing, naked-raku process, fired
multiple times in electric and raku kilns; pedestal is hand-built from
walnut wood, altered to fit the bowl. Designed by Elena Miller .
Wood work is done by wood artist Gregg  Straitmatter.

I am fascinated with organic shapes and forms and how they work together with color and texture that you see in nature.
Integration of various natural media with clay, like rocks, sand and wood helps achieve  dynamic movement . The challenge of
taking something essentially flat and turning it into organic form with volume creating a synergy between layered color and
various organic textures has a great appeal to me.

"Agate Stone Vessel": This jar is thrown on the
wheel and altered. Multi-layered glazes were applied
to achieve visual depth. Fired in a gas kiln. Thin
branches and copper wire and integrated with clay
create organic feel.

" Amber Stone Vessel": This jar is thrown on
the wheel and altered. Multi-layered glazes were
applied to achieve visual depth. Fired in a gas kiln at
reduction at cone 10. Natural stones: amber,
carnelian and yellow jade integrated with clay create
organic feel.
